전문인력이민

2002년 6월 28일 이후 과거 독립이민이 신이민법에서 기술이민으로 명칭이 변경, 그 후에 다시 전문인력 이민으로 명칭이 변경되었다.
전문인력이민(Skilled Worker Class)은 점수제로 자격 판정을 하며 학력, 경력, 나이, 언어능력, 적응력 6개로 분류하여 점수를 산출하는데 총 점수가 67점 이상이어야 한다.

전문인력 이민자를 수용하는 목적은 캐나다에 공급이 부족한 분야의 전문기술과 경험을 갖춘 고급 인력자원을 외국으로부터 충당하여 캐나다 노동시장에 활력을 주기 위해서이다.
따라서 해당 전공분야의 경력이 중요하다.
